Your computer is as secure as you make it. That means as long as you are careful as to what you open, download and websites you visit are not infected, you should be okay.

We HIGHLY recommend installing and purchasing Malwarebytes. It’s saved more people from malicious content than any other Anti-Virus out there. It’s free to install, but if you want REAL PROTECTION, you have to purchase a license. It is affordable at about $40 per computer (with discounts for multiple machines).

Microsoft does offer Windows Defender. It is a ‘basic’ antivirus that has improved over time. It will never be up to the standards of Malwarebytes though. It’s okay for basic use, but even the most tech savvy people can be tricked into clicking on the wrong thing. It’s best to have ‘extra’ protection just in case. Your data is too risky to lose!

Is your Windows Up to Date? You should be running Windows 10 version 2004 or greater to be the most secure. If not, it needs an update, maybe several updates.

Did you disable Windows Update a while ago? If so, you should check and turn it back on. Get the latest patches to prevent the hackers from gaining control of your system.

These are things to think about regarding your computer. We all need one these days, but without good security, it’s a risky thing to use online. Every day there are new hacks, exploits and ways to get into a computer that are discovered. Get up to date and be as secure as possible.

Call Beck PC if you need help getting your system up to today’s standard. You’ll be much happier for it. However, be aware that you might need to add more RAM, or even a bigger hard drive to your system. Every version of Windows has grown in size. This means your system needs to be strong enough to handle it, along with enough resources. Otherwise it can become frustrating.
